This post is a follow-up from the python code project detailed in Helicopter animation using a Raspberry Pi . I am looking for a motor recommendation from the E14Community members.
The block diagram is for a helicopter animation. The motor is located under the table and connected to the rotor with a plastic shaft. The 28BYJ48 stepper motor I have been testing with maximum RPM is not sufficient for the project. 17RPM just doesn't cut it, when the sound of the Bell Huey Turbin kicks in. I am hopping to tap into members experience and get a recommendation for a motor that they feel will work for such a project.
The helicopter model is plastic, approx four inches in length. I don't need a motor that has high torque or the rotations at 1K's RPM. I'm not looking for precision either. It will need to be variable in speed, starting with slow rotation working up to faster. I am trying to stick to DC between 3V to 12V. The 3VDC motor I have on hands stops when I lower the voltage. I'm also not looking to spend thousands of dollars either
If you have a suggestions, your reply with "give this motor model a try" would be greatly appreciated. It back to developing python code for a stepper motor or servo motor or brushes DC motors, who knows.
